15-year-old girl accused of murder in Brighton

BRIGHTON, Colo. (KDVR) -- A 15-year-old girl was accused of murdering a 44-year-old man in Brighton.According to Brighton police, just after midnight Tuesday, officers went to the 400 block of North 6th Avenue to check the wellbeing of a man that had not been heard from in days. Colorado youth violence at 5-year high plateau Inside, they found 44-year-old Joseph Johnson dead from apparent gunshot wounds. After an investigation, the 15-year-old was identified as a suspect. She was arrested in Castle Rock Tuesday afternoon and booked into the Prairie Vista Youth Services Detention Center on murder and motor vehicle theft charges. Due to her age, her identity was not released.

Newly released surveillance video shows the son of a South Florida celebrity running from police before his arrest in Miami Beach for allegedly assaulting two women. Luther Roderick Campbell II, the son of famous rap artist Uncle Luke of 2 Live Crew, appeared before Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer, Wednesday. Campbell is facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer.According to police, at around 7 p.m. Tuesday, Campbell was armed with a knife and walked up to two women, telling them, “What did you say?”The incident happened on South Beach, near the famous Big Pink restaurant. The women were behind a car and had something blocking them from Campbell. Campbell eventually ran away with that knife.Police caught up with him at the Walgreens at Fifth Street and Jefferson Avenue. Four businesses were burglarized after crooks broke through drywall to gain access.7News cameras captured how the burglars were able to make their way into the businesses by using the top of a toilet bowl to break through the drywall. “He came right through that window,” a business owner said. A crook first broke into a window of a dog grooming business. Surveillance footage showed the suspect in the back of the plaza. The suspect was seen using a broom to change the angle of the camera. Second victim of fatal New Bedford fire located by officials

Authorities say a second victim has been recovered from the scene of a massive fire that burned through a rooming house in New Bedford on Tuesday.The State Fire Marshal’s Office provided the update Wednesday afternoon as officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire at 1305 Acushnet Avenue.According to a news release, the second victim had been found while investigators were using heavy equipment to examine the burnt out, four-story structure.“On behalf of the New Bedford Fire Department, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Moreira’s family and loved ones,” New Bedford Fire Chief Scott Kruger said in a statement. “It was deeply important to all of us at the scene that we recover him with respect and dignity as soon as it was possible to do so.”One person had still been unaccounted for as of Wednesday morning, following the fire that killed one other person and injured several others. Police identify driver in deadly Lynn hit-and-run

Police have identified a driver who they said was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Lynn that left a 55-year-old woman dead on Wednesday, officials announced. Lynn officers responded to the incident just after 6 a.m. Wednesday on Route 107 northbound between Ida and Cooper Streets.Police said the woman was struck in a crosswalk in the area. Within hours of the crash, officials said detectives using city surveillance cameras had identified the driver and located the damaged car in Boston inside a parking garage in the area where the man behind the wheel worked. The driver had not been charged as of Wednesday afternoon. “The investigation has to continue,” Lynn Police Lieutenant Mike Kmiec said. “There’s obviously parameters that we have to follow with regards to what you can arrest somebody for,” Kmiec continued. “There’s obviously misdemeanor charges involved that, if they’re not occurring in our presence, there will be a summons at a later date.”Lynn polic...

A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a Wendy’s in Lynn last month, police announced.The incident happened on Feb. 7 at the Wendy’s location on Boston Street, where police said a 16-year-old was shot while working at the drive-thru. Police last month said someone pulled up to the drive-thru window, exchanged words, fired a weapon and sped away.Just over seven weeks after the shooting, police said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday following a chase in Marlborough. Police said the teen is facing charges including armed assault with intent to murder and intimidation of a witness. 

Stoughton middle schooler hospitalized after consuming marijuana edible

A student in Stoughton required medical attention on Wednesday after authorities say the middle schooler ingested a marijuana edible.Students at O’Donnell Middle School told 7NEWS a shelter-in-place announcement was made around 1 p.m. to clear the hallways as authorities responded to the school.Officials say the response was due to a student eating a marijuana edible, resulting in the student needing medical attention and an ambulance being called.Students and parents later received an email about the shelter-in-place, though no reference were made to the drugs.Stoughton police say only one student was involved in the incident and that officers were investigating how the middle schooler obtained the edible.
