Trump indicted by Georgia grand jury in 2020 election interference case

Former President Trump and a suite of 18 co-conspirators were indicted by a Georgia grand jury Monday on charges tied to efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The charges follow a more than two-year investigation by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) into Trump’s efforts to pressure state officials to intervene to reverse his loss while also organizing a group of 16 Georgians to serve as fake electors and claim the former president had won the state. The indictment also targets several Trump allies accused of aiding in the scheme, naming Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Ken Chesebro and Jeffrey Clark as co-conspirators. A St. Paul man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for crashing a stolen car into another car while fleeing police in Anoka County, killing his passenger and seriously injuring the other driver.Joseph Mario Cady, 42, received his sentence Friday in Anoka County District Court after pleading guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation in connection with the July 11, 2022, head-on crash in Linwood Township that killed Jessica Lynn Sellers, 30, of St. Paul.The 60-year-old driver of the car that Cady struck, Debra Lee Hirsch, was taken to the hospital in serious condition, with a broken foot and toe, cracked ribs, cuts and other trauma. LOUIS – The Federal Bureau of Investigation recently announced the results of a nationwide effort to help victims of sex trafficking.According to the FBI’s St. Louis office, Cross Country 13 resulted in locating several local, missing juveniles. Jay Greenberg, the special agent in charge of the St. Louis office, encourages anyone who suspects trafficking to report their suspicions to authorities.“If you see something that looks out of the ordinary, go ahead and report it,” Greenberg said.Greenberg says there’s a misconception that trafficking typically involves a victim being kidnapped or abducted.
