Russia: Bill to allow electronic conscription notices passes MOSCOW (AP) — The upper house of Russia’s parliament has approved a bill that would allow authorities to issue electronic summons to draftees and reservists amid the fighting in Ukraine. The Federation Council’s vote was the last step needed before the bill goes to President Vladimir Putin, who is now expected to sign it into law. Lawmakers in Russia’s lower house, the State Duma, passed the measure on Tuesday. The legislation was put on fast track as the Russian military is preparing for an expected Ukrainian counteroffensive, which Ukraine and its Western allies say could start within weeks.Russia’s current military service rules require the in-person delivery of notices to conscripts and reservists who are called up for duty. In the past, many Russians avoided the draft in the past by staying away from their address of record and the proposed bill would close that loophole. Under the new bill, the notices issued by local military conscription offices will continu...

We will not give up. We are realistic but we will not give up. Football is football and a home match in Germany is a home match in Germany,” Tuchel said.Speaking in German with broadcaster Amazon Prime, Tuchel lavished praise on his team for their commitment and effort and sa...

Florida Senate’s ban on minors at drag shows draws criticism from Democrats, LGBTQ activists Democratic lawmakers, including Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other members of the community are set to speak out around 10 a.m. on Wednesday in opposition to the Florida Senate-passed bill preventing children from attending drag shows. They argue that the language of the bill is too ambiguous, raising concerns that it could lead to a chilling effect on businesses hosting drag shows and even prompt cities in Florida to deny permits for Pride parades. The Republican-controlled Florida Senate passed a controversial bill on Tuesday that would prohibit minors from attending drag shows, even if their parents consent. ANOTHER DAY OF DOWNPOURS Happy Wednesday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone has been able to stay dry as South Florida has been soggy since late in the weekend.  After record rainfall in Miami on Monday, heavy rain has continued to fall over portions of South Florida, leaving the ground saturated and the roads flooded. And after relentless rain continued on Monday and Tuesday, this morning South Florida woke up to a few showers, which increased in coverage and intensity as the morning went on while temperatures remained in the 70s – something that hasn’t changed since earlier in the week. Unfortunately, for South Florida today has the potential to be another wet one for our area. Due to the extensive cloud cover, the showers and h...
