Crash in Tamarac leaves passenger injured; driver flees on foot

Police are searching for the driver of a red sedan that was involved in a single-vehicle traffic crash in Tamarac that sent one person to the hospital. Broward Sheriff’s Office units arrived at the scene along the 7900 block of Tuscany Court, at around 3:45 p.m., Friday.Investigators said the passenger of the vehicle was airlifted to the hospital, and the driver of the sedan fled on foot. 7Skyforce hovered over the scene where police presence was visible and the red sedan was damaged in the roadway.Please check back on WSVN.com and 7News for more details on this breaking story.Swastikas found painted in bathroom at Western High School in Davie

Sinister symbols found at a South Florida high school again.Swastikas were scrawled on the bathroom walls of Western High in Davie.Summer camp is now being held at the school. A former New Hampshire state representative who is one of two people charged in a child pornography investigation waived her appearance Friday afternoon in a Nashua courtroom as she faces charges of distributing child sexual abuse images. Nashua police said 39-year-old Stacie Laughton, of Derry, New Hampshire, was arrested in the case on Thursday. Her arrest came on the same day that police arrested Lindsay Groves, 38, of Hudson, New Hampshire. In a separate announcement, the US Attorney’s office for Massachusetts said Groves is accused of taking nude pictures of children at the Creative Minds Early Learning Centers day care, where she was an employee. The US Attorney’s Office said Groves allegedly took nude pictures of children at Creative Minds who were around three to five-years-old. A New Hampshire woman was arrested Friday in connection with the Jan. 6 US Capitol riot, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Boston division announced. The FBI said Cindy Young of Bristol, New Hampshire was taken into custody without incident Friday morning Young is accused of participating in the riot, according to court documents. A law firm working on a class-action lawsuit against Harvard and its former morgue manager says up to 150 people have joined the suit so far.Keches Law Group announced the latest figures on Friday, a week after first filing the lawsuit.The suit, filed on behalf of plaintiff John Bozek and “all others similarly situated,” was filed days after federal authorities announced allegations that several people took part in the sale and transportation of stolen body parts from the Harvard Medical School morgue in a case spanning several states.The suit says families entrusted the deceased bodies of their family members into Harvard’s custody for medical research and academic study. A home for the elderly and disabled in Pembroke went up in flames on Center Street early Friday morning, officials said.Two firefighters and a police officer were hurt while rescuing people from the fire at the building overnight. They were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.Officials reported that nine people were displaced by the fire.People who live nearby said the fire happened fast.“A little heartbreaking because I know the people that live in this building. EL CAJON, Calif. — Two people who were found dead inside a home in unincorporated El Cajon Thursday have been identified by authorities. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the two deceased adults discovered at a residence in the 200 block of E. Bradley Avenue were 42-year-old Eric Orpinela and his wife 39-year-old Denise Helen Orpinela. They were parents to three children ages 9, 13 and 14. This is the most commonly used drug among adults arrested in San Diego Authorities say a minor called to report finding their parents dead around 9:45 p.m. Both victims appeared to have head trauma, but officials say it is not yet known how they died specifically. SDSO says an investigation into the matter is ongoing. As of Friday, there are no outstanding suspects and there is no threat to the community, according to authorities.
