Lincoln County family grateful they are safe after heavy winds damage home

LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. - It wasn't a tornado, but high winds that left heavy damage in parts of Lincoln County.Some residents are cleaning up the mess that Mother Nature left. From lighting to strong winds, the most significant damage is a home on Elm Tree Road, just off Route C.Homeowner Walt Humburg was inside when his roof was ripped off. He said his furniture and other items started flying."My ears popped, and the next thing I know, the roof lifted off. I did not understand what was going on," Humburg said. "I thought it was a tornado. 3 KCK officers, at least 3 suspects shot in undercover fentanyl bust

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- A shooting Wednesday afternoon has left three Kansas City, Kansas, police officers injured. The shooting was reported just after 3 p.m. in the area of North 18th Street and Wood Avenue, just north of State Avenue where there is a heavy police presence. KCK police tell FOX4 that the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department is taking the lead on the investigation. KCPD said all three officers have serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Doctors at the University of Kansas Health System said the three officers are awake and talking. KCPD said three suspects, all men, have non-life threatening injuries as well. KCK Police Chief Karl Oakman said a narcotics and tactical unit was following up on an investigation into a fentanyl deal. Murder suspect fatally shot by police after assaulting officer in Vernon area

A man who had been wanted on suspicion of murder and attempted murder was fatally shot by police in the Vernon area Wednesday morning after assaulting an officer while attempting to disarm her, authorities said. Officers from a multiagency gang taskforce were searching for the suspect in the Los Angeles Riverbed area between Vernon and Bell around 7:10 a.m. when he was spotted in an encampment, South Gate police Chief Darren Arakawa said. The man, who has not been identified, ran away, jumped over a wall and tried to get into a business in the 5600 block of District Boulevard. A South Gate officer confronted the man, who refused to surrender and instead tried to grab her gun, authorities said. After a struggle, the suspect punched the officer in the face and the officer eventually shot the man twice. Princess Cruises changes cruise route to offer solar eclipse experience

Princess Cruises will be tweaking the route of one of its ships next year to give passengers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a solar eclipse at sea.The April 2024 cruise aboard the Emerald Princess will have its itinerary altered to coincide with the last solar eclipse to cross North America for 20 years. The cruise will take a brief detour from its 15-day Panama Canal tour to catch the April 8, 2024 eclipse between Cabo San Lucas and Huatulco, Mexico.  "Guests will gather on the top decks and be given special glasses they can wear to safely view the eclipse as astronomy and space exploration enthusiast Fred Cink helps guide their viewing experience," Princess said in a news release. Santa Clara County is finalizing plans to build three new affordable housing projects in San Jose to add more than 300 desperately needed apartments for low-income and homeless residents.This week, the county Board of Supervisors approved spending up to $17.4 million to purchase the properties needed for the new developments.
