Inmate would not testify in Richard Allen case after claims of retaliation, abuse by prison employees

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. -- In court documents unsealed on Thursday in Carroll County, an inmate at the Westville Correctional Facility wrote a letter to the Carroll County Court explaining why he would not testify in the Richard Allen case.Robert Baston said he feared for his life and of retaliation by prison employees if he testified about the abuse he claims Allen suffered at the hands of guards.This comes after Baston wrote a letter to the Carroll County Clerk in April, claiming that Allen was being abused and mistreated by inmates and guards. At the time, Baston said that prison guards would call Allen a "kid killer" and inmates threatened Allen's life, telling him to kill himself. AUSTIN (KXAN) — A special commission in Freestone County has determined the property containing the former Fairfield Lake State Park is worth more than $418 million.The three-person commission had been appointed by a district court judge to assess the current fair market value of the 5,000-acre property as part of eminent domain proceedings.The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is attempting to acquire the land, which includes the former state park, through eminent domain. TPWD had leased 1,460 acres of the entire property from an energy company for 50 years, but it was sold to a Dallas-based developer, Todd Interests, earlier this year.Shawn Todd, CEO of Todd Interests, previously walked KXAN through his plans to turn the site into a luxury private development. HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — A former San Marcos High School teacher was found guilty by a jury and sentenced Nov. 3 on three counts of sexual assault of a child, according to Hays County court documents.Records showed 38-year-old David Ross Guerrero was sentenced to serve 2.5 years in state prison, followed by a probationary period of 10 years. As part of the sentencing, Guerrero was also required to register as a sex offender.Ahead of his conviction, Guerrero pleaded not guilty to the charges, according to documents. WILTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police have arrested a suspect in connection to a larceny reported in Wilton on October 25. Joellyn Bedford, 50, was charged with grand larceny in the second degree and criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree. Investigations determined that Bedford used a forged bank cashier's check with a false name to purchase a 2021 Ford Bronco from a seller. New bill would reimburse school districts for costs of migrant students

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Kyle Hutchinson, 23, of Schenectady, was sentenced to prison for second-degree murder and first-degree burglary.
