(KRON) -- The New York Mets made a trip across the country to take on the A's in Oakland. Although the Mets won 17-6 in Friday's series opener, the road team's broadcast team might've been the loser that night.Due to a possum, SportsNet New York (SNY) broadcasters Gary Cohen and Ron Darling were moved out of the designated broadcast booth for the visiting team, the two said during Friday's telecast. Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao’s car was broken into during film premiere Cohen and Darling said a possum left an unpleasant smell -- forcing them to relocate to a smaller booth. "Apparently, the booth reeked so badly of possum leavings that an executive decision was made to move us to this booth, which is somewhat smaller and has few impediments," Cohen said during the SNY broadcast. An Oakland Coliseum spokesperson said there was no possum seen in the broadcast booth Friday but confirms there was a possum sighting on Opening Day when the Los Angeles Angels came to town.Possums have been i...Whitecaps, Austin play to scoreless draw

HOUSTON (AP) — Yordan Alvarez played just two games in spring training while dealing with a sore left hand. That limited work certainly hasn’t slowed Houston’s slugger early this season. Alvarez doubled with three RBIs to back up a strong start by rookie Hunter Brown and help the Astros to a 8-2 win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night. Alvarez tied the game with a two-RBI double in the third, and his bases-loaded walk started the scoring in a five-run seventh that pushed the lead to 8-2. He leads the majors with 20 RBIs and joins Lance Berkman (2002) as the only players in franchise history to have 20 RBIs in the first 15 games of a season. “The biggest thing is just all the work that I put in,” Alvarez said in Spanish through a translator. “Unfortunately, in the offseason and spring training I wasn’t able to work the bat a lot. But I tried to keep myself prepared physically … and I think now we’re seeing some of the results there.”Brown (2-0) allowed five hit...Bear scare: North Carolina man in shock after encounter with an equally startled bear
